BUCS WEDNESDAY: WARWICK 1S MENS VS CAMBRIDGE 1S MENS
On Wednesday, Warwick closed out their season with an excellent win over Cambridge at home. The first quarter wasn’t an ideal start (let’s just leave it at that) but from there Warwick dominated the rest of the game to win 14-3. Takuto demonstrated his skill with a long pole in defence, and Cam Bungay got a goal with a short stick in attack – maybe we’ve had it wrong all this time.
Last year, Warwick won the league for the first time ever. This year, Warwick end their season on 9 wins and 1 loss which means, I’m delighted to say, that they are Midlands Tier 1A League Champions once again, going back-to-back for the first time ever. Furthermore, Warwick went further in the cup this year than last year, meaning that this truly is the best season Warwick Men’s 1s have ever had.
As we look back on a great season, we can’t help but also look to the future of this team and this club. You may be wondering things such as: Will Craft ever go to a men’s circle? How will Jake balance being Men’s 1s Captain and badminton doubles player? Is it a coincidence that Guy will be 5787 miles away from Bath on his year abroad? Did Cal actually play with D1 players in Singapore, or did he make it all up to try and get back on our team? These are all things we can look forward to finding out. Until then, I wish you all a good holiday, which should be full of lacrosse because honestly those right to left split dodges with a shot on the run that we did in training weren’t good enough.
